Over years and
continuous usage, the performance of the computer degrades very much. No matter
how fast your computer ran, eventually it will slow down giving you a sinking
feeling to have lost your old speedy computer. But, no worries, there are
several methods through which you can regain the performance of your system as
it was when you purchased it. Defragmenting (also called defragging) is one
such method.

you are in for a treat. Your Windows 7 PC’s main hard drive is defragmented on
a regular schedule automatically. Even so, it is a good thing to defragment
your hard drive or removable storage media manually. To perform a manual defrag

Most Microsoft Windows Live Chat Chat System.dll file corruption errors occur due to the corruption of the file or the missing of the same. Since this is an external file and has all chances of going corrupt or missing, the issues arises at any time. One of the reasons for the DLL file going corrupt or missing is due to improper shutting down of the computer. There are chances of DLL files getting corrupt with an improper shutdown. When the DLL file becomes damaged, it will not let the computer function properly and it will throw error messages. When you have such issues, you can look into the support guides available in our Tech support site.

On the other hand, issues with the DLL file can be due to some corrupt Windows Registry files. Broken or corrupt Windows Registry keys can lead to DLL errors that eventually lead to many issues with the computer. While removing a program, only when you remove its associated files from the registry will it be considered as removed completely. When there are some instances of a removed program being present in the registry, it might cause issues on the computer.

When there is a malware or virus infection in the computer, there are chances for the DLL file to become corrupt. A hardware failure is also one of the reasons. When another program overwrites the instance of the DLL file, then it would lead to issues. When another program uninstalls the DLL file by mistake also the issues may surface up. The computer starts to malfunction only when there is a virus in the computer. Hence, it is important to have an antivirus program installed in the computer to avoid such issues.

Instructions to fix the issue

You will have to start by Manually Registering the Microsoft.WindowsLive.Chat.ChatSystem.dll file with the help of Microsoft register server.

Next, you have to Repair invalid Microsoft.WindowsLive.Chat.ChatSystem.dll registry entries.

You will have to go to the Recycle Bin and Restore Microsoft.WindowsLive.Chat.ChatSystem.dll.

Run a full Virus Scan in the computer.

Try to Update the device drivers in the computer.

In order to undo some of the changes, you have to make use of Windows System Restore. This will help in undoing any of the unwanted changes that recently happened with the system.

Remove and Re-Install all Windows 8 Pro programs associated with Microsoft.WindowsLive.Chat.ChatSystem.dll.

Execute Windows System File Checker.

Install all the updates available.

Do a Clean Installation on Windows.

If you have been using your system long enough, then you already know the importance of subscribing to a tech support service. In many cases, the tech support services provided by the software developer itself might be more than enough. However, this is only available for the limited period of a few years and it will not support software programs you bought from any other developer.

Why subscribe to Tech Support service?

The best option is to subscribe to a third party support service that will take care of all your tech support needs. This will include support services for the operating system as well as all the other software programs you are currently using. Also, you will get quality tech support services at really affordable rates.

There are many tech support service providers online. Unfortunately, some of them are scams fooling the users with fake websites. As with other online services, there are quality service providers as well as scam artists with fake websites. The onus is on you to distinguish between the two.

You need to think twice before subscribing to a reputed tech service

They employ qualified and experienced tech support personnel to take care of your tech problems. They will figure out the root of the problem in no time and provide the required assistance through voice chat or through their Remote Access service.

Remote Access tech service involves their tech support personnel accessing your system through the internet using a client-server application or using the Remote Access feature in your operating system. They will go on to making the necessary changes in the OS for fixing the problem.

The user on the other end can monitor these developments by looking at his system monitor. If he does not want the tech support personnel opening certain files or folders containing important information, he can easily end the Remote Access session from his end.

They offer tech support service packages on a yearly or half-yearly basis at very affordable rates. With the tech support service, you will also receive software tools for protecting the system and for boosting its overall performance.

Microsoft Office is a suite of applications which make your work productivity go up by a significant degree. This is many people’s favorite productivity suite, whether at the office or at home. Even your kid can use one of these productivity apps for completing his school project. Some of the more popular applications in this suite are Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

One of the good things about MS office apps is that they can be used on different types of devices; you can also integrate use across your mobile devices and desktop PC. Using online storage, you can save your work information online so that it goes wherever you go. There is no limitation on where you can access your saved files from, as long as you have a working internet connection.

MS office apps have the added benefit of having simplified UIs, making it easier for a first-time user to learn how to work on them. You can customize these programs to provide and respond in ways you are most comfortable with, so as to maintain a creative and efficient work environment.

Outlook is the app which handles your email and task scheduling. It lets you set up your email account, and access the messages that pass through it. Additionally, it also has a contact base which you can use to stay in touch with your friends and colleagues, as well as a calendar option using which you can draw out the rest of your work week. Outlook is currently the most favored desktop email client on Windows PCs, even though there are free alternatives from such software publishers as Mozilla.

The document editor and manager in the MS Office bundle is called Word, and using this you can write out and publish different kinds of documents carrying text and image content. One of the things about Word is that it’s a good way to type out your text and have the errors automatically identified. The proofing and editing option can be modified to pick out any common mistakes you are bound to make, and point these out as and when.
Tech support deals with your MS office issues and provides fast issue resolution, if you feel the need for it. But what Tech support reviews reveal the most, is how satisfied customers are when they hang up, having had their software problems fixed in the most efficient and satisfactory manner.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8759975439595032769.post-32069412696564405342014-10-27T01:40:00.003-07:002015-07-25T10:14:19.001-07:00Support Scams And Other Frauds

Tech support scams reports are quite prevalent nowadays and the number of complaints on the same is increasing day by day. It is to be noted that these reports are being spread by competitor support service providers. Tech support service is one of the leading support service rendering company that has many happy customers due to the quality of service provided. Users are so happy and convinced about the services such that they even recommend tech support to friends and family for seeking technical help.

Now due to the scammers and fraudsters, people who once recommended tech support are now not that happy with the same. There have been many reports and complaints about scam calls and emails that customers receive. The scammers are wise enough to gain the trust of the customers. Customers believing the support service to be genuine, give them information such as email ids, phone numbers. And In worst cases, credit card details. It is high time customers know about the ethics that the company follows.

Customers have to understand that tech support services do not follow the practice of calling random numbers and offering help to them. They call only the customers who are registered to the services. Customer support representatives would make a call only to remind customers about the subscription renewal or to let them know about the latest products. In case the customer opts not to receive phone calls, tech services would see to it that they avoid the same.

The technicians employed at tech service have been trained in such a way that they see that the customer information is safeguarded and make sure there are no security breaches happening. The situation is such that you just cannot do anything about these scammers, since they hide behind good reputation. It is just hard to spot the one harming people and punish them. However, there are initiatives taken by law and order to make sure such incidents do not happen.

The only solution for avoiding these Tech Support Scams is to be careful and not give away confidential details to anybody who makes a call or sends email requesting such details. When you receive such emails, ignore them, or report about such emails online so that people are aware of such things happening. When you search online about fraudsters and scammers, you would get a list of such sites and groups. Always opt only for genuine tech Support sites.

Even if the support has been cut off completely for Windows XP, users can still breathe a sigh of relief. The latest updates in Windows XP say that the users will still be able to use the thirteen-year-old OS with anti malware signatures. Microsoft will continue to give out anti-malware updates for the operating system for over a year even after moving past the support deadline. This means the end to Windows XP help services. Microsoft will continue to provide anti malware engines and signatures all through 14 July 2015. This is according to one of the blogs from Threat Research & Response Blog post.

The same applies to the enterprise users for Forefront Client Security, Windows Intune, System Center Endpoint Protection and Forefront Endpoint Protection. This is as per the report from a staff at the Malware Protection Center. This shrinks down to Microsoft Security Essentials for consumers.

There was a major commotion that Microsoft would totally put a full stop on Microsoft Security Essentials meant for Windows XP. People, who were worried about Microsoft Security Essentials, can now be content with the latest update. Microsoft Security Essentials is important for the system since it shields from rootkits, Trojans, worms and other malware. This software, which is also a successor to Windows Live OneCare, is free and the first line of defense for almost every Windows operating system.

The efficiency of the anti-malware updates with the out of support OS is very limited according to the experts and the analysts. They say that an ideally protected system should be a combination of the latest hardware along with the latest software. They must work together in such a way that they can overcome different threats and security breaches that occur.

These intimidation and threats include organizations well funded to involve in such low-grade activities, which more often control malware automation on a large scale. You can call it a nuisance more than a threat since they are motivated by profit seekers aiming to create damages politically and financially.

Widows XP will no longer be an operating system that is entitled to receive support or updates since the software giant has rated the operating system to be old and threat prone. To make Microsoft’s point clear, here is what you will not get if you are still an XP user- the users will not receive Windows XP help, hot fixes, security updates or any other services related to security of the system.

The Frontier Yahoo! is a provision toolbar from Yahoo!, which lets you stay in touch with the world in a dozen different ways. Using this browser utility, you can get the latest news from all around, access your Facebook account and Twitter feeds, and do much more. There are ways to customize the toolbar to get just what you need, and nothing more. Only information that is relevant to you will be displayed on the browser toolbar this way.

This toolbar makes your searches faster by letting you skip a step, with better functionality using Yahoo! search. Other options include viewing eBay listings, stock compilations, etc. All the while, you can stay on the page you are on.

Many people do not find much use for this toolbar, and would want to remove it from their computers. Though the services are impressive, they are not enough to offset the inconvenience of losing window space to a toolbar, or the automatic changes made to the browser settings.

Here is the procedure for removing Yahoo Toolbar from your Windows computer.

Instructions

Open the Start menu on your computer and choose Control Panel. Go to Programs, and there, and hit Uninstall a Program if you are using Windows 7 or Vista. If you are on Windows XP, click on the Add or Remove Programs option in the Control Panel window.

Look for the Frontier Yahoo! Toolbar in the list of applications populated on your screen, and click on the Uninstall button. If you have XP, then hit Remove or Change/Remove, whichever you find beside the toolbar entry.

Go through the instructions and finish the uninstall process. You will see the progress in the form of a bar at the bottom of the window. When it is done, the toolbar will be completely gone from the system.

The main executable file for the program is saved as yt.dll. The installer brings in 7 files totaling about 2.44 MB in size. There might have been changes made in the browser, which will remain unchanged even after the toolbar has been removed. If so, you would have to revert to the old setup manually and change the home page and the search engine back.

That was the procedure for removing Yahoo Toolbar from the Control Panel area in your Windows computer. For more such toolbar removal guidelines, search other posts here.

Despite the demise of the aging operating system after the
end-of-support deadline, Windows XP has continued on a slow and linear decline,
though much slower than what was expected. However, it appears that Windows 7
operating system seems to be getting the larger chunk of the pie, since the XP users
prefer to upgrade to Windows 7 rather than more advanced operating systems like
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

According to the latest statistics from Net Applications,
one of the leading technology statistics firm, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 sales
have gone down and essentially stagnated over the months. Although the decrease
is less, it is a lot lesser than what was expected. Number of Windows XP owners
have steadily gone down over the time, sliding below the 25 percent mark
recently. In contrast, Windows 7 continues to climb up, enjoying a user base of
over 51% presently, which is way more than the 44% market share it held last
year.

As the adage goes, “numbers never lie”; and the statistics
have proven the point without question that Windows 7 is far more popular and
user friendly when compared to Windows 8.x operating systems. In the race of Windows 7 vs Windows 8,
Windows 7 has won fair and square and that too by a wide margin. It seems none
of the strategies that Microsoft has employed in the past two quarters has
worked. Moreover, it seems Microsoft is keen on introducing the next operating
system version, Windows 9,
in hopes of forgoing the tarnished Windows 8 brand.

The combined market share of Windows 8.x operating systems,
which includes both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, is a measly 12.48 percent, which
is less than half of the aging Windows XP operating system market share! Since
the sales have flat-lined, the failure of Windows 8 operating system has been proven
beyond any doubt. When comparing the stability of the Windows 8.x OS to that of
other failed operating systems, it is a revelation that a complicated user
interface could single-handedly pull the tides in favor of Windows 7 in the Windows 7 vs Windows 8
competition.

However, critics have pointed out that Net Application’s
data can be erroneous since all the conclusions have been made out of web
browsing statistics alone. When comparing the number of licensed copies sold,
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 together makes above 200 million in sales.

It
has been three months since Microsoft cut Windows support for XP; but users
still largely continue to retain its use on computers. XP-run systems currently
form the second highest number of Windows desktop PCs.

It
is anticipated that along the current trend, XP will retain its position in
popularity for at least a few more months. Though the operating system might
well remain on the internet for years afterwards. This projection comes from OS
share tracking concerns, StatCounter and Net Applications.

The
data analyzed by Net Applications spans internet browsing done using XP in the
month of June, which almost predicts that XP will linger longer in the software
arena than most other platforms. User shares for the 13-year-old OS have been
falling by mere single percents since the month of February, but stayed
consistent during May and June. On the other hand, Windows 7’s share is
currently estimated at 50.55 percent, with the Windows 8 share holding just
12.54 percent.

XP’s
share globally is placed at 16 percent, despite which it ranks second in place.
Windows 8 meanwhile takes up a close 14 percent of the shares, and could oust
XP out of second position sometime soon, probably the next few months. Windows
8 has already exceeded Windows XP’s share in the United States, with a 14.94
percent share compared to the latter’s 14.13 percent, as stated by StatCounter.
However, inside the US market, Mac OS X lands second place, with computers
running on the OS directing nearly 16 percent of the browsing traffic.

Interestingly,
Mac OS X scores low on the global stage, managing just an 8.5 percent of
StatCounter share and 6.5 percent of Net Applications share. The former
analyses and tracks page views, while Net Applications checks shares on grounds
of unique visitors mostly.

Windows
XP has been receiving modified patches from third party sources, which
Microsoft warns users against installing. Many XP users still have not upgraded
to a newer OS, hoping instead to catch Microsoft’s Windows 9, which has a
preview slated to release in January 2015. A major portion of user discontent
revolves around new features in Windows 8, which failed to appeal to users of
traditional desktop PCs.

Microsoft received a lot of flak for Windows 8 operating
system because users believed that the user interface is unintuitive and
complex. However, it is because you are used to the user interface in previous
versions of Windows and the new interface throws you off course that you feel awkward.
Once you actively forget what you knew and work on understanding the new
interface, it appears to be simple and uncomplicated. Many Windows 8 problems
reported by users were nothing but being unable to understand or use the
available features

.

Windows 8 features a Metro style Start screen and different
apps to manage your work. Although it might look unfamiliar in the beginning
when you launch it, you will be able to work well once you understand all the
different features of its Apps. Almost all Windows 8 apps include a certain set
of features in common. These include commands, settings, and views and so on
but they are hidden from the screen and you have to actively seek them. To
display this list of options, you need to access the application bar (also
called the app bar) which is present as a strip in the top of bottom part of
the screen. A simple tap on the feature will help you with what you want to
use.

Here’s how you can access the Application bar if you are
using a touch-screen device:

Open the Windows 8 app of your
choice.

Swipe to the bottom edge of the
screen to display the app bar.

However, if you are unable to view the app bar at the bottom
of the screen, you might see the apps on top instead. Certain apps even have
two application bars.

Most App features are hidden away inside the Settings pane.
The layout inside the Settings pane is non-standard and is specific to the
application itself so you will have to navigate through them to find what you
want. However, it usually includes commands for setting App preferences and
other options. To view the Settings pane, swipe left from the right edge of the
screen and then tap on Settings.

Apart from the Settings pane, another feature that certain
Windows 8 apps support is a toolbar. They contain various buttons, lists and
other items, which provide you easy access to commonly used app commands. To
display the toolbar, repeat the same downward swipe you did to view the App
bar. If you have any trouble using Windows 8 Apps or suffer from any other Windows
8 problems, do not hesitate to contact our technical support team.

Microsoft released their new operating system Windows 8 with some
extra features that were not included in its predecessors. The main area of
difference in Windows 7 vs
Windows 8 is related to the user interface. While Windows 7 had an icon
based interface, Windows 8 had a tile-based interface. In fact the main feature
of the Windows 8 operating system is its new tile-based user interface, which
is known as Metro user
interface.

The preview version of the Windows 7 operating system needed about 540
MB for running 34 processes and the SP1 version of the Windows 7 operating
system needs about 404 MB for running 32 processes. However, the new Windows 8
operating system from Microsoft requires only 281 MB per 29 processes, leading
to a significant reduction in memory usage. It was heard that the company is
planning to reduce the memory usage further by making few changes to the
operating system in the updates to come in the future. Below we discuss about Windows 7 vs Windows 8
comparison in some common fields.

Touch friendly User
Interface

Even though Microsoft had introduced support for touch screen displays
with their Windows 7 operating system, it was through Windows 8 they achieved
their dream of developing an operating system developed solely for working with
touch-based displays.

New Start Menu

With the Windows 8 operating system, the Redmond-based company removed
the Start menu button from the screen and introduced a new concept, the Start
Screen. You can access all the programs from the Start screen directly.

ARM Support

Microsoft also included support for ARM powered devices with their
Windows 8 operating system. Windows 7 as we know it never support ARM powered
devices; however, with the increase in the number of devices that use ARM chip
designs, the company added support to the platform with Windows 8.

Windows Store

One of the exciting features of the Windows 8 operating system that
Windows 7 did not had is the Windows store. From the Windows Store, users could
easily download start screen apps and desktop apps supported by Windows 8. The
store also allows an app developer to sell his application to the world through
their ecosystem.

Multiple monitor support

Windows 8 now has enhanced support for multiple
monitors. With the multiple monitor support in windows 8 operating system,
users can now display the Start screen in one monitor and the desktop in
another easily.

Hope you now have some idea on the
properties of Windows 8 operating system.

Rumours about Windows 8 flaws are rife in social media. One might even doubt whether Windows 8 contains any good feature at all. But, after using Windows 8 versions of operating systems on my computing devices, I have found that it is not as bad as most of the rumours suggest. Here is my short review about Windows 8. If you are tech savvy, looking forward to using an advanced Windows operating system for your sophisticated needs, I endorse Windows 8 to you.

Touch friendly operating system

The key attraction of Windows 8 is that it is touch-friendly. Microsoft has designed Windows 8 to be touch-friendly to suit better with the advanced and sophisticated computing devices. Over the last couple of years, computing devices have undergone transitions. Modern laptops are touch-enabled. You do not have to give the input via the old keyboards or mouse. Inputs can be given directly through the touch-friendly screen of your computing device. This transforms computing into an easy business. Windows 8 operating system appears familiar and fitting in a touch centric device.

Metro User Interface

The touch-friendly user interface of Windows 8 is known as Metro UI. Windows 8 Metro UI is sophisticated and fits well on the operating system. It is different from the traditional Windows operating system. In the previous Windows versions, you will find a Start button on the bottom left corner of your desktop. By clicking on this button, you will get a list of all the programs and applications in your computer.

You can launch any program by selecting it from the Start menu. On the other hand, in Windows 8, there is no Start button. All you have is a Metro UI. The Metro UI features tiles. In Windows 8, everything is represented by a tile. There is even a tile for the desktop. In order to launch a program, users are supposed to tap on the specific tile.

Option for customization

Windows 8 allows you to customize the operating system. If you think that the default features or settings of Windows 8 are not up to your expectations, you can customize it so that it will look more acceptable for you.

Apparently, the features of Windows 8 versions are much more than what we hear from the media. If you are looking for a modern Windows operating system, Windows 8 is definitely the right choice for you. Try it out for yourself.

Playing computer games is one of the many reasons for people to buy a PC. However, to play games uninterruptedly, you need to make sure that you have a well configured system. Many go for AMD-powered gaming PCs as it is affordable. To play games like Watch Dogs, you need to have the latest Windows version. There are many reports indicating that users had trouble while playing Watch on the AMD powered game PC running Windows 8.

Why are some games not compatible on AMD gaming PCs running Windows 8?

Windows 8 is no more supported by the latest version of AMD’s Catalyst software 14.6. Even downloading the latest version of Windows 8 drivers won’t come to the rescue. However, there is nothing be worried about. Upgrading your AMD powered gaming PC to the latest version of Windows (Windows 8.1), you can overcome the issue. If you have a valid Windows 8 product key, you can upgrade to Windows 8.1 for free. Microsoft has availed Windows 8.1 update on Windows Store.

Meanwhile, AMD made it clear that it will no longer support Windows 8. The company said that it wanted to focus on the latest Windows version as most users are migrating to it from the older and controversial Windows 8.0 version. According to the company, providing support for Windows 8.0 is a more or less an unnecessary expenditure. Moreover, it is senseless that users have to download additional Windows 8 drivers manually.

Catalyst software not mandatory if the gaming PC has AMD graphics card
It has been reported that users who have installed AMD graphics cards in their AMD powered gaming PCs do not need to download and install the latest version of AMD’s Catalyst software. However, to play latest and high definition games like Watch Dogs in full graphical capacity and to ensure improved performance for the games, users are required to install the latest version of Catalyst software. Experts at AMD suggest that the installation of the latest version of Catalyst Software 14.6, and the performance of games like Watch Dog could be improved by 25 percent at 1080p.

Apparently, AMD’s decision to not support Windows 8 hasn’t caused any outcry from users as most of them are in the process of upgrading their PCs to Windows 8.1. As Windows 8.1 update is rolled out for free for all existing genuine Windows 8 users, the decision is certainly not going to affect any users.

Microsoft Outlook is a powerful tool which allows you to organize your tasks, send/receive emails, schedule interviews, allocate jobs, etc. It is not just an email application; it is also a great personal information manager. It has a range of tools that helps your easily prioritize, organize and order email in Outlook. Rules, flags, folders and alerts can help you organize huge volumes of emails sent and received. So, it will surely help you truly experience the full caliber of Outlook if you learn how to use these tools. Here are the instructions to help you organize email in Outlook.

Instructions

First, you need to decide what all folders you need to create. Now, the more emails you receive, the more folders you will need.

For creating folders, you can move the mouse cursor to where the folders are located, and then right click on Personal Folders. Then you need to choose New Folder from the menu. Type the name of the folder (the name you wish to keep), and click on the OK button.

If you have topics that are unrelated or uncommon, then you can name the folders as Miscellaneous. You can create many miscellaneous folders and place them beneath particular topics.

If you have four or five folders that you use frequently, copy them to the favorites section. All you have to do is drag the folder into the Favorite Folders section.

You need to filter the email messages as you receive them, or regularly. If there is an email message requiring feedback, then right click on it and choose the flag named Follow up from the option. Microsoft has lately confirmed that the devices that are currently running on the Windows Phone 7.5 will not be receiving the long awaited Apollo update. This has put an end to the long debate on the Windows 7.5 devices. This does not mean that these smartphones are at the end of the line. It has long been speculated that the reason why Microsoft would want to restrict the Windows Phone 8 OS to the new phones is mainly due to the improvements in the hardware support and the changes in the platform architecture. After all, how can the single core devices with VGA screens take advantage of the multi core? This part obviously makes sense, but that leaves the software side.

Microsoft is making their own plans to make the current users of the Windows Phone stay happy. Some software benefits will be included in Windows Phone 8 and a helping of these killer features will be available to the legacy devices in the form of Windows Phone 7.8. There will be support for 3 tile sizes, and the smallest will be the fingertip size. This will be a quartet of the standard square. The Apollo update will be delivered directly to the users, sidestepping the carriers and the update can be done over Wi-Fi. This news was confirmed after contacting the Microsoft help & support team.

Microsoft was very keen to announce that the 7.x apps will run on Windows Phone 8. ZDNet has just confirmed through a statement from Microsoft that the apps that are built for the new platform will not be backward compatible. They said, "New applications compiled specifically for Windows Phone 8 will not be made available for Windows Phone 7.x devices." The latest update for the Windows phones that is code named Apollo Plus will be bringing new features to the Windows Phone 8. This will be a point update to push the features and fixes.

With this update, Microsoft is planning to include VPN support in Windows Phone. This was a missing option, and the introduction of this feature will allow the corporate users to connect to their work systems. If you wish to know more on the features and updates that will be introduced with the Apollo update, you can contact the Microsoft help & support team. They will be able to provide you with the latest news on the update.

Even after Microsoft released an official statement claiming that the recent problem with Outlook.com had been fixed, many users still continued to face issues. Honestly, I didn’t have any Outlook problems but I see many of my friends and colleagues complaining about the site going offline. It is quite disappointing that Microsoft has not yet given a proper reason for the outage yet. Even more disappointing is the irony in the statements issued by Microsoft on the Live.com dashboard.

The first statement, which was published on the dashboard, said "Fixing the problem is taking longer than we hoped. We'll provide an update by end of this week.” Folks who expected the update by the end of the week were shocked to realize that there were no updates, except an apology, “We apologize for the lengthy interruption in service."

Although the software giant didn’t come up yet giving a proper reason for the outage, a popular tech-based media was able to collect some information from Microsoft regarding the problem. It contacted the technical department at Microsoft, which investigated the Outlook.com problem. The following report has been issued to the media from Microsoft. "The (Outlook.com) issue has been resolved for the vast majority of our customers, but we are still working to restore full service in a few limited scenarios. We will provide more details and a post mortem soon, so that customers can learn what happened and how we resolved it."

Outage problem affects personal cloud services
Reports indicate that the outage issue is not only affecting the Outlook.com email service, but also most of the personal cloud services such as SkyDrive, contacts and the likes. Microsoft claims that it resolved the issues with SkyDrive and Contacts a few days ago, and it is working on the issue with Outlook.com that a limited number of users are facing.

Even after continuous requests from users, techies and experts from different places, Microsoft has chosen to keep the reason behind the outage secret. Some believe that Microsoft’s decision to keep the reason for the outage secret may be to prevent hackers from recognizing the loopholes. But there is no dearth for rumours in the tech world. A popular tech journal recently said recently that the frequent outage issues that Outlook.com facing could be because of the newly added features in Outlook.com. As we are not sure of the reasons behind these Outlook problems, we don’t endorse such reports.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8759975439595032769.post-32101439126979351032014-05-29T04:58:00.000-07:002015-07-25T10:17:22.661-07:00Release Of Windows Repair

It is good to hear that finally, Tweaking.com has come up with Windows Repair 2.7.0. Windows Repair is a fix that contains several updates and is offered as an independent tool. The new Windows Repair tool also includes Repair Service Permissions, which makes the total number of fix it tools to 30. Furthermore, the new tool blends quite well with Windows 8 as well as Windows 8.1 operating systems.

Before running the Windows Repair, the tool verifies that all the files required for repair are present in the program folder of the system. If there is any important file missing, the repair would fail and create further problems in the operating system. In order to avoid such a situation, Windows repair tool lists out the file or app that needs to be installed and unless you update that particular app, the utility will not initialize repairing.

Another major feature of the Windows Repair 2.7.0 program is that it offers Reset Service Permissions. This update provides complete access to Administrators, and System and TrustedInstaller users with default setting.

The new Windows Repair tool is also capable to rewrite both Reset File Permissions as well as Registry Permissions. It also supports 32 bit and 64 bit locations using SetAcl.exe system tool. Since Windows Repair has been designed to perform a number of such functions, the program is found to be a bit on the slower side with the repair work. In order to avoid surpass the shortfall; the manufacturers of Windows Repair have not designed a command prompt to show the progress of the repair work.

Another major demerit of SetAcl.exe program is that setting exclusions for Reset File Permissions has been altered. This creates difficulty for users to verify the text files found in the Files folder and to learn about handling the exclusions.

One major specialty of the new repair tool is its full access rights for Trusted Installer for both Vista and later editions. If you have any doubts regarding it, you may contact Windows support team. Windows Repair 2.7.0 is equipped with updates that could work perfectly on Windows 8 and 8.1.

Even though the new tools are found useful, Windows support team recommends you to take a backup of all necessary documents or files to prevent potential risks of data loss that might arise during the repair. Hope you are ready to try the fix.

According to recent reports, Microsoft has decided to churn out around $230 m in order to add a fourth mega Datahall for its Dublin-based campus. It was announced that the software giant would be planning to add 20 more people to the 80 on-site staff. Along with this, the company also plans to provide temporary employment for almost 380 building-related jobs, which would prove to be a relief for many.

As per relevant sources, this expansion devised by Microsoft would help in adding around 169,000 square feet of IT space to the facility, which would in turn boost the fortunes of the company. Such a significant addition would definitely be a representative of the growth of tens of thousands of additional servers. According to technicians at the Microsoft support services, the firm is also planning to add to the data center to support continued growth in several of its services such as Xbox Live, Bing, Office 365, and Windows Azure etc. Thus, it is clear that the expansion would bring the total available space of the facility to 584,000 square feet, which is indeed a remarkable feat by the company.

Facebook's data center at Oregon, which is said to comprise of two huge bit barns, each covering about 300,000-square feet of IT space. In addition to this, the corporate giant has announced a 50,000–square foot cold storage addition. Now, Microsoft's new bit barn is expected to have a power usage effectiveness of 1.25, and to enable complete tracking of every watt spent on compute, storage, and networking.

According to Microsoft Ireland’s managing director Cathriona Hallahan, "Not only does this highlight the growth in our cloud services business but it also highlights our continued commitment to investment and innovation in Ireland and Europe." Reports from the Microsoft support services also stated that .25 watts would be available for supporting power and cooling infrastructure, which would easily help Microsoft to move ahead of its counterparts in terms of efficiency. Google data centers by comparison have a PUE of between 1.08 and 1.18, and Facebook’s installation stands at around 1.07. It is thus clear that these varying efficiency levels in terms of PUE would reflect the types of hardware each of these companies buy, and how tightly integrated the facilities they comprise are.

These are some of the aspects of the latest strategies used by Microsoft to expand its services. For more information on the services, feel free to contact our Windows tech support team.

The tech company Lytro Inc is famous for their light-field camera. In fact, they were the first to introduce such a camera in the consumer market. And, indeed, the Lytro light-field camera is now one of the fastest selling electronic gadget. A light-field camera as the name suggests captures the entire light field data when taking a picture, while a normal camera can only take the 2D range of data.

Without getting into the technical details, while your normal camera takes a picture, the light-field camera captures as much information as it can from the incoming light. With this information, you can later use the Lytro software to create one picture or a series of pictures focusing on different parts and even from different angles.

Using Lytro cameras on a Windows system

The software that comes with the Lytro light-field camera was not compatible with Windows OS. Many Lytro owners, who use Windows operating system, were not able use the application. Visiting the Windows tech support website was of no help, as the manufacturer themselves had not released Windows-compatible software.

However, this is no longer the case. Lytro has now released a software application for the light-field camera that is compatible with Windows operating systems. The company recently released the application that would run on all versions of the Windows 7 64-bit OS. We all might have experienced first-hand problems with Windows at one time or another. At times, it is horrible with the viruses, BSODs, what all and what not. How many times have we called Windows tech support for help? And how many times the Windows tech support could completely resolve the problem? There are many of you who are using Macs at the moment but we all know Macs are extremely pricey. It is not affordable for everyone. Many people do not know about the other options available. The computer geeks of the world have switched to Linux, primarily Ubuntu.

"It just works" - a famous quote from almost every advertisement for Macs, this is of course true, no doubt about it and Apple has done a wonderful job of drawing us away from Windows, but the problem here is that they act as though there are only 2 options- Windows or Mac. This article will help you with the steps to convince Windows users to switch to Linux.

Instructions

The Linux kernel powers over sixty percent of web properties, actually runs the top 10 supercomputers and also dominates the smartphone market with the Android OS that we all know. When accessing Google or Facebook, you are unwittingly using Linux. So you use it everyday without knowing!

Run an Ubuntu live USB drive. Leave it on for them to try, and then tell them that it would actually run really fast when installed on their PC.

You can compare the security for them. Windows is designed in a way that it allows external connections to automatically perform tasks on your PC. What happened because of this is that it sparked the invention of the virus, and basically, the only thing antivirus software does is take that right away from Windows and know and recognize threats. Then years later, the software maker "invented" the infamous “User Account Control”. Macs and Linux are actually designed to avoid and not to allow such a thing.

You can further inform them of WINE, a program for Linux allowing you to run Windows programs on Linux. This may lure them and their favorite feature will be the incredible speed, which they will very much love compared to the Windows system they have installed on their PC.

So, these things should be enough to convince Windows users to switch to Linux.
