- First, close the Windows Installer package. Then proceed to restart the system.
- Make sure that you remove any and every remnants of any past java installations. Do not forget to delete any initial files generated from the failed installation attempt of Java Runtime Environment. If you do not remove these leftover files from the system, you are sure to get the same errors again. To make sure that all files including any from the failed installation attempt are removed, get the Windows Installer Clean-Up program from the Microsoft website.
- Double click on the installer file that you downloaded in the previous step. This will open the Windows installation wizard on your desktop screen. Just follow the simple prompts provided on-screen to complete the installation process of the downloaded Windows Installer Clean-Up program. Once the process is finished, exit from the installation wizard.
- Click on the Start menu button in the lower left corner of your desktop to open the Start menu. Click on All programs and select Windows install Clean Up Utility to activate the clean-up software. A list of all the programs currently installed on the system will be displayed.
- In the list of installed programs find the java software that you wish to delete from the system. Click on remove, and close the utility once the program has been removed successfully.
- Now visit the Java website, and make sure that you download the official installations file for your Java software. If you install the Java software offline instead of from the Java website, you will be able to dodge the Windows installer problems that were troubling you all this while.
- Double click on the downloaded java software file to begin installation. Follow through any prompts that appear during the installation process, and restart the system once installation is completed successfully. Restating the computer helps save the applied changes.
