Disabling Internet Explorer 10 From Windows 8 Computer


Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 operating system provides a whole new web browsing experience to its users. It has now been optimized as a browser for touch devices as well as for regular desktops. With the operating system having been developed for such devices, this is hardly a surprise.
Windows 8 installation automatically loads Internet Explorer 10 onto your computer. However, it is up to you to decide whether you need to use it or not. Internet Explorer 10 is now more powerful and faster as compared to its predecessors. There is significant improvement in its features and performance measures. However it is possible to experience problems while using Internet Explorer 10 on your Windows machine.
Switching to “Compatibility View” can sometimes help solve your issue with Internet Explorer. If such troubleshooting steps don’t work, you may go for other popular browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox or Opera to be used as your web browser. If you really want to remove IE 10 from your Windows 8 machine, follow the below steps to do it.

Instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 10 from Windows 8 computer

Click on the Start button and the click on “Run”. Alternatively you may press “Windows key + R” to bring the Run utility.
Type “appwiz.cpl” into the Open text field box and click “OK”. This will bring up the Programs and Features window, under the Control Panel.
Go to the left pane of the window and locate the hyperlink for “Turn windows feature on or off”. Click it to open “Windows Features” window.
When the Windows Features window opens, go through the list to find Internet Explorer 10, then unmark the checkbox next to it and click “OK”.
You will now get a warning dialog box to confirm whether you really wish to proceed with disabling Internet Explorer 10. Confirm it by clicking “Yes” and then click “OK” button.
After you are done with it, you will be prompted to restart your computer. If you have something else important to do, you may choose to restart the computer later.
Once you restart your computer, you will no longer see Internet Explorer in the Metro user interface as well as in the task bar.
You have now successfully disabled Internet Explorer 10 from loading onto your Windows 8 computer. Similarly, you may remove other features that were loaded automatically with Windows 8 installation. Go through Windows Help menu to learn more about it.
