Microsoft Outlook is an email manager program that is widely
used by people all over the world for managing their emails. Outlook 2013 is
the latest version of the email client and can be used for accessing your
emails. Here we discuss simple Outlook setting instructions for accessing
emails in Yahoo email account from Outlook 2013.
Instructions
- Open the Outlook email manager program by clicking on its icon found in the All Program tab in the Start menu. When the application appears on the screen, click on the Add Account tab found in the File menu.
- From the set of options displayed on the screen, click on the option labeled as Manual setup or additional server types and click on the Next button to continue with the configuration process.
- Select the option labeled as POP and then click on the Next button.
- In the Account Settings page that opens on the screen, type in your name in the textbox next to the Your Name field and your email address with domain name in the textbox next to Email address. Select the type of account as POP3 and type in the incoming mail server address as pop.mail.yahoo.com and the Outgoing email server address as smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
- In the Users Name field, type in your email address and type the password for logging in to the Yahoo email account in the Password textbox. Also make sure that you have not put the check mark on the option labeled as Require logon using Secure Password Authentication.
- Click on the More Settings option and then on the Outgoing Server tab, put a check mark in the checkbox found next to the option My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Also remember to select the option labeled as Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Click on the Advanced tab to enter advanced server information like port numbers and to set the encryption type.
- Set the incoming port number as 995 and the outgoing port server as 465 or 587. Make sure that you have set the encryption type to either SSL or TLS.
- Click on the OK button to save the changes made in the Outlook setting window and restart the program to make the changes permanent.
- When the application appears on the screen, click on the Send/Receive button to synchronize the emails.
